I worked at DNEG full-time for more than a year

    Pros

very welcoming and great environment as a starting position within the vfx industry. i had many mentors who helped me develop as a technical director. i had fond memories and got to be involved in social activities such as the women led groups, acapella choir and mental health working group initiatives that provided great work-life balance. i felt like i was part of a great team and my confidence within myself and my work has improved.

    Cons

notice before contract termination could be provided in advance at an earlier time to help process leaving the company

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at DNEG full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great shows and great people work at DNEG - artists, support teams, production.

    Cons

Management - there's been a complete shift in the company with the new ownership now. MDs, COO & CTO have left in the last year. New management interest lies heavily on growing outsource to India as much as possible. High volume at low cost business model reigns at the cost of quality and creativity now. Main underlying interest for the company has been to go public for last year and some. This drives most of the higher level decision making at the cost of the employee - down to your own wage.

I worked at DNEG full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nice offices full of friendly, creative, hard-working people producing brilliant work.

    Cons

Senior management are aloof and remote from the day-to-day issues. Many initiatives to improve things for employees stall or die out for lack of engagement at the top levels. Staff do not seem to be valued, with almost no benefits and a tight rein kept on time spent at work, even though many people routinely work longer than their contracted hours with no recompense. Communication is appalling, with important changes and even salary cuts and redundancies being announced by email rather than in person or in a company address.
