If you get a good store team to work with it’s good fun, good fun getting to dress up in the clothing

Cons

Don’t expect much support from head office. They definitely care more about numbers than they do their staff. If you’re hired as casual you will be treated as so, the only way to gain full time hours is to be made part of the management team which I advise against, they expect managers to work at least 5 hours over time without pay. Team meetings for full timers are not paid either and are expected to be held outside of work hours. Extremely high expectations from head office of getting tasks done during store hours like unpacking of stock, organising recalls & onlines. The latest development with online orders is if you have any late orders and they have to be refunded because your store doesn’t have the stock or you can’t find the item, they threaten you with a “write up” - warning.

Good people; bad company

Pros

There are some amazing people who work and shop here. The atmosphere is very welcoming and more laid back than in traditional clothing stores.

Cons

Upper management and corporate are filled with people who can’t do their job and don’t know how you do yours. They set unreasonable KPIs, sometimes obviously out of reach just so they don’t need to pay you out your reward. They treat customers like NPCs that are constantly in the store and just waiting for you to sell to them. Like really, they expect you to have a ‘natural conversation’ with everyone, while simultaneously going through their sales steps (which include talking about sales as if there aren’t sales signs on every wall). Don’t expect to be trained properly but expect to be blamed when you mess up. Even if you are a casual have fun having a work life balance, they have multiple ‘blackout periods’ throughout the year where you can’t refuse shifts. They will pull stuff like reducing plus size ranges and not having any carry bags in the store and act it’s all the sales peoples fault that their stores aren’t meeting KPIs. Don’t get me started on the ugly outfits they want us to put the mannequins in or the fact that the mannequins are all the size of 13 year old girls. (Career opportunities is high because managers constantly quit after a year so don’t worry, you will be able to replace them quickly).
