Pros

People tend to be upbeat and positive. Good company days out for bonding sessions. Work is challenging which is great. Good weekly company all hands so you are aware what is happening in the business.

Cons

The Executive team - first startup and it shows. They need an experienced COO who has been here before. There is misplaced confidence with the CCO especially. Transparency is a value and I am still unsure if they can claim that as one. It is blatant that there are favourites across the business. They are mostly dominate loud characters (nice enough) but emotional intelligence is lacking with them and the attitude is "oh that is just the way they are". Not good enough.

We’re really sorry you didn't feel Airts was the right fit for you. You joined us in a brand new role in a brand new team, and we didn’t have the processes established to give you the experience you were looking for, despite our best intentions. We can't agree with your comment on our CCO. He has helped to transform and grow Airts over the past 2.5 years, and the company wouldn’t have flourished if not for his contribution. Our confidence in him has been earned. The secret to his success is that he demands perfection for our customers, but we recognise the pressure this can sometimes create. We want to maintain the fun environment here, so we'll take your feedback on board and do what we can to minimise stressful situations. We absolutely agree with your point that we still need more experienced leadership. We are a first-time startup that has doubled in size in 6 months! We have taken steps in this regard by bringing Roan Lavery (CPO and Co-founder at Freeagent) onto our board, and we are very excited that we'll soon be able to announce the hiring of an experienced VP Engineering to the senior leadership team (plugging much of the COO gap you identify). We wish you all the best.

Cons

* Inexperienced management * Bullying management culture outwith main team * Zero respect and dignity * Dishonest - staff were asked to write the other reviews on here to give the company a great profile on glassdoor - what other start up company would have 5 stars at such an early stage in their development? Management aware of this and allowed it to happen *Stress filled environment that's not managed properly *Unsupportive Management outwith product team *No proper processes in place and unwillingness to listen or change

Thanks for your feedback. We’re really committed as a company to creating a positive and supportive environment for our team, and it’s never good for anyone when things don’t work out the way we'd like. We've taken your feedback on board, and have already made changes to ensure we don't lose our focus on our people and their well-being as the company grows. On the Glassdoor reviews, we do feel we asked team members to be honest with their reviews, but in light of your feedback, we've reminded everyone about this message. We wish you all the best for the future.

Pros

I've been at Airts since before we had a name for the product, and the Co-founders technically didn't have desks. Airts is a Scots word for direction, and the only way this company is going is forwards. Straight out of Uni fresh-faced and without a grey hair in my beard, I had no idea the journey on which I was about to embark. It's been one of immense excitement, of challenges, of good times, and many hard (but rewarding) times. Most of all, it's been a journey of learning. Airts isn't a place you work; it's a place you learn and create. It's a place you care about the team because they care about you. This company wants to succeed, and the way it does that is by helping the team members succeed. It's a start-up, so we've got all the usual stuff: beer fridge, pizza days, artisan coffee, a choir who sings Toto Africa exclusively (though I did recently take part in a rendition of 'The Hills are Alive'), flexible work hours, casual clothes, and frequent fun events. The team at Airts has struck a brilliant mix of providing structure, choice, opportunity, and fun. It's grown from 4 people to 24 people in my time here. We've moved office five times. There's been so much potential for that brilliant mix to split and go sour, and it's only gotten better. It's fantastic, and even the Co-founders have desks now. Other cool things: - £1000 training budget. - £1500 referral bonus. - Free subscription to the Edinburgh Cycle Hire Scheme. - City Centre Location. - Thirty-three days holiday a year. - Sean Connery accents so good it's like he's in the room.

Cons

Of course, we've had teething problems. You couldn't grow as fast as we have without a few. One of the big ones would have to be the delay in firming up our processes. We work with big clients with high expectations that we've always aimed to blow out of the water. By in large, we've managed to do that, but we don't always record the steps to get there to make it easily repeatable. Our vision is to eliminate wasted effort, and our product does that in spades for our clients. However, we've had to swallow a few tough pills to appreciate that that vision must also apply to how we work ourselves. It's getting easier though, we've been careful to hire for the right roles, with each helping to firm up processes to make them work effectively and most importantly, be repeatable. If you're looking for a company that's got all its ducks in a row, Airts isn't it just yet. If you're looking for a company that's almost there and needs a few more people to muck in and get it there - and importantly you want that opportunity - then it almost certainly is.
