Pros
This is a good opportunity if you are looking to get your foot in the door for interior design or home decor. You will learn a lot about the business of interior design & e-commerce. Office is located on 57th & Lex, with multiple modes of transportation. Hours are normal 8-hour shifts, with a 30-min lunch break. Usually there is a Christmas bonus and annual raise.
Cons
Unfortunately, the cons outweigh the pros when it comes to this company. The office is extremely small and functions very much like a start-up, although the website has been around for several years. Office consists of a handful of employees, including the president and her daughter. The president is difficult to relate to in many ways. She often will make rude comments, without realizing what she is saying brings down the spirit of the office. Her actions go without consequence considering there is no HR department. Please be aware if you have any issues or feel uncomfortable in any way, nothing will be done. The president will shout peoples names or ask questions from her office. She will try to have full length conversations with other employees, rather than get up from her seat or call an extension. President watches every move you make or any word you say. Employees are essentially treated as children, rather than adults. A lot of paranoia prevents the president from trusting her employees. You will have to make note of your accrued sick & vacation time. This information will not be available thru ADP or on your paystub. Carefully right down the days you use sick or vacation time, as no one else is noting this and you will be accused of using sick or PTO that you did not already use. When you do decide to use them, they will be held over your head. Since the office is so small, any sick or vacation days you use, will be held against you.
