Pros
You interact with financially illiterate people who are easy to scam out of money, and you get a cut.
Cons
Catfish job description. Oh, you applied for customer service? Well, you are actually going to be debt collecting. Targeting strategies that mail advertisements to zip codes that have a low percentage of high-school graduates, and a high percentage of people on disability/social security. Also, calling references on unpaid pay-day loans and telling them "your name is on a loan that is past due." Dishonest, yet technically true. Targeting those who are older. And unfortunately they would pay up when the loan actually belonged to their grandchild or neighbor. Nothing beats sitting in the call center and hearing your supervisor shout while on the phone with a victim/customer "I don't care if you have cancer! If you took this loan out knowing you couldn't pay it off, that is fraud! We're going to keep calling you every day until you start paying!" Then 2 weeks later their wife faxed in a death certificate. We still called 5-7 times a day for a week after that because of our 'system' the guy didn't die from cancer, he took his own life. Companies like this have no reason to exist. I left as quickly as I could, if I didn't have dependents and would have been homeless I would have left the first day.
