No respect for employees

Pros

The main advantage is that the work is quite rewarding, fast paced (not to say extremely stressful) and there is a sense of camaraderie in the lower echelons of the Company. There are some great people here (unfortunately most are looking to get out). You get to expand your contact network

Cons

Total lack of respect for employee’s time, or personal wellbeing. There is no opportunity to grow (unless you are related or close friend to top management). If you don’t have a completely servile attitude towards management you will not be in Dufry for long. As there are results, no attention is paid to the means. No payment of overtime makes it a very “efficient” company, since you can work 20 or 30% overtime as a system, without as much as a thank you.

Pros

immediate team were great, professional, supportive, would work hard to get the job done. I was lucky enough to be able to travel as part of my role, which was an amazing experience.

Cons

UK business has refused to change and adapt since being taken over by Dufry - always believing they knew best and so making things as difficult as possible... because of that anyone in a global role was treated appallingly by the UK. I had better relationships with colleagues all over the world than I had with colleagues in the UK. The senior team within Dufry needs an injection of diversity, unless you are male and Southern European you don't appear anywhere near the top! I was let go because of Covid, whereas under-performing people in Southern Europe were kept on - and no - they could not do my job! I just don't see how any company would rather retain under-performers than keep good performers who deliver. That and you have people in roles that they have no clue what they are doing, they are just in the roles because they are male and from Southern Europe or have daddy to get them a job... there is a theme here! nepotism is rife! Do not work here if you value your sanity, well being and work/life balance. The expectation is that you will work 18 hours a day because they just got rid of most of the teams and people that did all of the work!
