Pros

Potential to be flexible Good place to get foot in the door for medical sales

Cons

Very cult like culture at Dynasplint. You deal with a lot of issues you shouldn’t have to as a sales consultant for little pay. It’s luck of the draw — if you are taking over for an excellent rep you will confine in that path and make commission. If you’re thrown into a bad territory, good luck. It’s all about economic factors of your territory. Management knows this, but they just don’t care quite frankly and will continue to throw out unrealistic ideas. The whole approach needs to be reformed it’s a turn off to docs and office staff as it is an unnecessary hassle they don’t get paid to deal with. They set you up for failure from the get go. Instead of properly training new sales employees it’s a constant hire and fire.... for a company that isn’t financially stable I never understood this method. Train your employees and treat them better I can guarantee you will see a 180 in your company. They take zero advice from anyone that isn’t management. As sales reps we have the vantage point of seeing all the flaws on a daily basis. They don’t care to change their ways. Overall, they really just need a reform as a company and to listen when reps come to them with issues they see on a daily basis. It’s not that they hire bad reps or a bad product, it’s bad management!!!!!

Pros

Flexible schedule, not much travel for sales

Cons

Support staff is understaffed which makes it harder for sales force to stay on track. Inventory is awful (some patients cancel due to waiting so long for splints). Sales reps are responsible for obtaining clinicals to get insurance authorization, fitting patients, following up with patients and sell to therapists and surgeons. Insurance coverage on splints isn’t great. Marketing materials provided by company is subpar in comparison to other DME companies. Low expense budget. Expense checks are always at LEAST two full months behind. No direct deposit and my paper checks get lost often. Other departments always reach out to sales rep to get help, adding more to our plate. No solid leadership, no awards or recognition, no continued learning or training. All research we can hand out is from the 80s, 90s which makes it hard for doctors to follow. Concept hasn’t changed, but it shows that company doesn’t care to pay money on an updated study. Minimum vacation days (5 a year for 3 years). Technology we use is outdated (old iPhone and 1st version iPad that crashes constantly).

Pros

Getting to work hands-on with patients and having the opportunity to impact their health in a positive way.

Cons

Legal issues galore---huge Medicare fraud lawsuit that created a lot of financial instability. Company does not pay expenses on-time, frequently will delay by days sometimes weeks. Leadership is non-existent, managers are lazy and don't invest in consultants in their territory. Salaries are laughable especially within the context of the medical device industry. This company thinks that they are well positioned when in fact due to their instability (huge layoff in 2013) and their reputation, accounts don't trust them. Their sales expectations are inflated based upon a sales climate that existed before they were caught for highly unethical business practices.
