Friendly but limited

Pros

There is a very friendly atmosphere, and the administration does provide good support.

Cons

Salary is below market. Parsimonious with vacation. Bonuses can be very small - risk of working at a small firm where performance can be volatile. Not a good job of retaining motivated leaders - historically high turnover of people leaving.

Pros

- Friendly colleagues. - The company believes in building analytical skills. - Some economist do care about investing in analysts and senior analysts.

Cons

- Salary isn't competitive and skills learned at Econ One are valued at other companies willing to pay much more for similar work. - Vacation is limited. - Remote work is limited, unless you have a rapport with upper management. - Limited opportunity for advancement, unless you are willing to stay at the company for a decade. - Some members of the staff are there because they are friend/family connections and do minimal work. - Overall, Econ One needs to make changes to compete to attract top talent. Give analysts laptops, offer better vacation benefits, and be honest about advancement opportunities.
