I have been working at Eden Futures full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

DBS paid for, thorough training for support workers, shadowing and mentoring from more experienced staff before going on shift alone. Staff benefits scheme including shopping discounts, well-being checks and free 24 hour counselling hotline Plenty of opportunities to try different roles in the company (currently on my 5th role since 2010) Eden have always trained and supported people to grow in to management roles if they want to Roadshows and Managers conferences for sharing ideas, good practise and building supportive networks with others in the same role Written recognition across the company, from other employees (including the CEO) when a job is well done

    Cons

Its the same as any job in care: shifts can be long, rotas can change, staff shortages and turnover of support staff (the same across the nation) working christmas/new year and bank holidays

I have been working at Eden Futures full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Service users are great and the environment within the team are good. High level of training from the start. Bottom tier managers are generally good at their jobs, they do the best they can with the resources provided to them. I see managers working on shift all of the time, and they end up doing their manager work in their own time.

    Cons

Higher management - area managers, regional directors and above, are not doing or seeing enough of behind the scenes. They expect unreasonable outcomes from staff and do nothing to support.

I have been working at Eden Futures full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It is nice to work with service users.

    Cons

Unfortunately there are many things wrong with this organisation. Historically it was a nice person-centred care company, however this has changed. Eden aquired many care homes up and down the country so they could try and be competitive and make money on the volume of clients as opposed to supporting a smaller number of complex people. The company did not have the skills to carry this out successfully, and consequently the care standards have fallen way below an acceptable standard. The staff turnover is amazingly bad, team managers receive zero training and concequently don't have the skills to do the job, the senior management pile more and more responsibilities on to the ground floor staff who simply get burned out. Out of 12 month period my pay was incorrect 7 times and on each occasion it took over a month to be resolved, the company will do their best to 'fob you off' when it comes to anything regarding money. This company has very poor ethics so if you want to feel supported and rewarded in your job then this is probably not the place to apply.

I worked at Eden Futures full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent training as I started before reliance on e learning Excellent experience while working for Eden Supported living in Rotherham because the service was well led and managed Person centred care and values

    Cons

Double standards everywhere at senior management level Staff feeling undervalued Unfortunately the company tends to promote people to Team Leader positions, give them a lap top and a phone and leave them to get on with it If you can teach yourself. Great. If not you are deemed a failure and treated accordingly TMs tend to step down or burn out due to the relentless demands of the role and superhuman expectations. This in itself creates uncertainty and concerns for service users and commissioners alike It is a lottery as to if you have a manager who is good at their job or not. Also if they are willing to coach and mentor you through what is a steep learning curve and deliver the support they promise Training at TM level and above was all but non existant The drive to expand the business by buying out smaller companies had sadly led to a drop in standards. Trying to develop more and more services and fill voids felt like it was more important to those at the top than supporting the service users and staff they already had Felt very disappointed, undervalued when I left. The company lost a very good and devoted staff member and I lost the great passion with which I had started Due to my experience I could no longer bring myself to work in the sector

    Pros

Allowed to do what you want when you want and nobody cares.

    Cons

How this place is still open is beyond me. They employ literally anybody out of desperation. Staff all sleeping with each other in service users homes. No confidentiality or care for the service users or staff. All complaints covered up by management. Constant safeguarding issues. How they keep managing to worm their way out of being shut down I will never know. Pestered to work illegal hours, no concern for wellbeing at all. No support from managers they never leave the office. Won’t even get started on higher management.

    Pros

Service users Staff team That's it! No honestly, it really is.

    Cons

Oh, good god. There's too many to list. Unless you like a "care company" that puts profit over care then please please please keep away. A bullying, micro management company that bully's staff out and works them to the bone and keeps piling it on with no second thought to its support teams and managers mental, physical and emotional health. Apparently the new company motto is: "the shareholders are happy. So you're happy!"

    Pros

    Going home and going home

    Cons

Absolutely everything Wouldn’t even give it one star. Management don’t care and turn up when they can be bothered. They take advantage of you and have you doing the management work for them. Including sending personal support plans and risk assessments to staffs personal email to complete at home. Ridiculously unsafe work environment as there is nothing in place to protect staff against the challenging behaviour that isn’t manageable. Just have to lock yourself in a room on the top floor and barricade the door with no way to get out in hope that the police might turn up before your left hurt or worse. No recognition for all hard work and efforts. You’ll have support workers interviewing you for the position they current hold. Very unprofessional. Anyone is hired, all you have to do is turn up to the interview which is why everyone home has a poor staff team. Any safeguarding concern is brushed under the carpet and hide any evidence that you reported it/ took action. The area management is even worse than the team managers and haven’t got a clue about safeguarding vulnerable adults. If you report a concern or speak up, you’ll be bullied by management. It’s that much of a miserable atmosphere you can’t provide the care that the service users need and want which is upsetting. You will be treated like dirt and for £7.83 an hour, it’s not worth it! Pay is always wrong then they say they don’t owe you anything. If you use your car, good luck trying to get the mileages back. Avoid this place at all cost. Biggest joke ever!

    Pros

Lovely service users. Some good but highly undervalued staff.

    Cons

The reviews on indeed are a more accurate reflection of this wanna be organisation. Note that these reviews are all written by people in management roles - the company is struggling to recruit so this is an attmept to improve the online status of the business......they do this rather than focusing on actually making the changes required to improve the reviews, this lying/tactic is a typical example of how eden futures operates.
