Pros

Great allocation. Good pay. Access to Britney and Juicy Couture fragrances etc which is nice to mix it up!

Cons

Was bullied for a year by a manager who was given the job over me (after I had been trained extensively and had been promised the job)... this pushy woman made my life hell by clicking her fingers at me, pushing me onto the shop floor, demeaning me for making low sales on days (it happens... it’s Arden!). She wasn’t reprimanded correctly due to her ability to push customers into sales and that’s all that mattered. I reported her behaviour many times with no actions - until one day I flipped and walked out, finally then I was relocated to another department store and finally got the job I enjoyed back with out being bullied. Since then she is still there, but continues to be hated by her peers around her and constantly has verbal fights with other counters over her behaviour. She has lost countless staff under her “lead” due to her doing the same thing that she did to me. There is a lot of pressure as it’s a high price point and smaller company, though they have great products there is a stigma that it is for old ladies, you have to really work hard for your sales to show a younger generation that it’s for all ages.

Pros

Great training if you manage to get it. Will look good on you CV.

Cons

So, so, so disorganised. I could barely get in touch with my area manager, and I never had any stock. They didn't give me the paper work they wanted me to do, and they got angry at me for it. and I got barely any training. The job was advertised as a Beauty Advisor, but I ended up being a Counter manager even though I had no experience in management. I didn't get any training, and I never got my uniform after working there for 5 months. Just to mention the stock again. Even though I highlighted to the company that I had lost hundreds of pounds in sale due to having no stock, and providing them a list of what we needed, they never sent me any more stock. The counter up the road had no stock delivery in over 6 months, and over the Christmas period had not a single item.

Pros

Training is great, they make sure you're really knowledgeable about your products. Discount is good on Arden products (60%) Products themselves are high quality.

Cons

Difficult to get support or contact sometimes from Area Managers Head Office staff seem to change quite frequently (moreso now since the Revlon takeover)
