I worked for 7 years with Telus Health Solutions, during my years with Telus I lost my opportunity for job advancement, but I liked the company's reputation, so I persisted to see if anything positive could come of it. For once they offered me a role but then, after six months, they informed me that they were no longer considering me for the position because my technical skills were not up to par with the industry standard, the manager even said, "If I'm not happy, I can look for another job." I left a month later and am now employed with a SaaS firm as a level 3 Integration engineer! I'm so relieved that I made the proper choice. They will give you the lowest pay feasible; I spent some time working in Calgary and some at the Saskatoon office. Management won't value skill; instead, they'll ensure that the worst slanderers advance. I put in long hours of work only to be transferred to a team (at the time, a company that was newly acquired); the team lead was a kind woman, but the coworkers were just hawks, perhaps sensing a threat. The plan was to "smoke him out" and the manager went along with it. The new team didn't take into account that I am a senior employee of the organization they wouldn't share "vital" knowledge! and like teenagers would spread stories. I suppose it was an existential crisis for them! I have never witnessed a group of men who are so insecure about themselves! Sheesh! I'm so happy now, had 3 role changes in the last 4 years with my new company and making X4 the salary!
