Pros

Empatica is probably one of the most meaningful and engaging companies you can find around, we design our products from the hardware to the algorithms with a good focus on quality and user experience. Here you have the possibilty and responsibility to make choices that has a strong impact on both the company and the final users of this technology. The team is full of brilliant minds that's why the hiring process takes a lot of time, we want to be sure to get the best profiles that can lever up the product aswell as the company culture. Last but not least, working on improving people lives in an innovative way is probably one of the best jobs you can aim for.

Cons

Being a young and fast growing company makes people works on several different projects, the pace is high aswell as the responsibilities you will be asked to take. If you're in search of your comfort-job this is not the company you're looking for.

Pros

During my 1 year and a half employed in the company, I met some of the best-talented people I have ever worked with. The environment was very young and energetic. People were genuinely interested in doing their best and launching a truly life-changing product in the market. People are given almost full ownership in their area. Given the nature of the products, the team is multi-disciplinary exposing everyone to other people's work/expertise. Fantastic benefits, like free lunch and weekly massage at the office. Also, the summer office in Sardinia was a very valuable team-building experience. In general, a place where people can really make their mark on global products and make a difference.

Cons

From being a small startup (with a headcount of around 10) the company grew over the years and this was definitely a painful process. It was clearly not possible to maintain a flat structure, and the founders were no more in full control of every single employee. Hiring the right people is also very hard and probably a few mistakes were done. The overall quality bar was not a priority as people were often push to do things fast, which is very challenging. Also, some critical roles were not having the right amount of support and this led to a not well-balanced workload. As an engineer, the use of good practices is very important to move on with your career but also be more confident about your deliveries. This can't be always sacrificed in the name of haste! The acknowledgment of hard work was not always provided and this was becoming particularly frustrating in the most challenging periods. It was hard to understand the roadmap of the company and imagining a professional growth path with such a number of ideas coming up and change of directions to follow market needs. It is also important to distinguish good ideas (i.e. design) from engineering challenges: not everything is easily doable and a feasibility study is always needed before wasting resources on crazy projects! Paid leaves given are consistently lower than national standards.

Pros

The company has a high number of well qualified people. The engineering team is one of the best I found. Everybody is willing to do their part and help.

Cons

Company is managed by 5 people and nobody can access this level. Plus they lack of expertise in managing people and product and they don't listen to senior people advice. Another important aspect is the contract, is barely legal.
