Pros
The best reasons to work here are that ABC is a very well-run company and the work is fun. I love being outdoors and having my day to myself to listen to tunes as I drive. The training here is really good. I didn't have any type of animal experience, other than raising my dogs, but I love animals and I like to see them close up and work around them. The training focuses on safety, knowledge about the species, how to treat animals humanely, and customer service. I've received two annual reviews here and I thought they were very in depth. My department's manager is a good guy. He is always respectful and a good role model. He was a Field Technician before he was promoted, so he did my job and know's what I go through on a daily basis. This is a great company and everyone does their best. I would recommend working here to a friend or family member, as long as they want to work very hard. The job is not easy, but it's important and rewarding. If you want to feel appreciated and be part of a great team, I would recommend working here.
Cons
I could make doing a different kind of work, like plumbing or construction, but I would not enjoy that nearly as much. I give this job and 8 out of 10, because you won't make huge salary here unless you're a manager, but the work is very enjoyable and the managers are great. This company tends to be a little too politically correct for my preference, because I like to joke around, so be prepared to be called in to meet with a manager if you say anything even a little "locker room," even if you're totally kidding. If you have a problem with extreme political correctness, you might have difficulty with management. I didn't get disciplined, but I did get called in to a meeting about it. I don't even remember what my joke was about. It was no big deal, but someone overheard it and that was all it took to get a 30-minute long "sensitivity training." I'm not saying this is a big deal, but know thyself and if you have a big mouth about off color stuff, you might put your foot in it.
