Pros
I like the fact that we are the largest airline in the world with good routes. Our benefits are decent. For the most part I enjoy my position and many of our passengers. Many managers are fair. We have a great PR division. Our in house stories make me want to believe in American.
Cons
Our pay starts not when we sign in, but when the aircraft's brakes are released (an hour after we report for duty). In addition lateness's are penalized even though we are not receiving a salary. -Lack of cohesiveness between work groups revolving in and around the Flight Service area. Many employees believe it's because our company is so large. My belief is this attitude is simply not fostered by management. -It's a seniority driven system. Requests for days off are rarely, if ever, granted to junior Flight Attendants. -Three months out of the year I am on call. This status can reduce my salary by at a minimum of $1,000. -With the addition of seats on our aircraft, Flight attendants are cramped on planes without adequate crew rest areas(specifically MD-80s). -Work groups took pay and benefit cuts shortly after 9/11. We are still at those reductions. -Morale is low. Due to cuts, employees are expected to perform additional tasks at the same salaries.
