Promotions seems to happen to those who like to play the "political" game. It is not necessary based on experience or any of your accomplishments. All talk will get you more places instead. If you don't play their game then you are on the sidelines. Silos are everywhere, as most groups only care about themselves. Pay is not comparable to most companies in the area. If you come in low, expect to stay there as you will not be adjusted even though someone off the street comes in paid more. Raises are almost nonexistent not even enough to adjust for the cost of living. Benifits are ok, basic and nothing extra. Workload = overload, depending on the team. Work/Life balance = depends on the team. They rarely promote within, not because an individual is not qualified, but because your current boss won't let you go. HR has reputation to be for the company, not for the employee and a bit untrustworthy.
