Pros
The pay is decent, higher than most firms in the area. The lawyers, both partners and associates, are nice to work with and very good at what they do. The office building is top quality, the admins' cubes are spacious and private, and each admin has his or her own printer. There are regularly scheduled technical training sessions, both in-person and online.
Cons
The people with the best skills get all the work and the long hours, but not necessarily the higher pay. Some lawyers can't give their assistants anything remotely complex, because it won't get done correctly. The lawyers then have to find other competent admins in the office to do the work or do it themselves. Often times, the admin they seek out makes less money than their own incompetent assistant, so you end up with lower skilled people enjoying a work/life balance and more money while the highly skilled people do all the work and earn less per hour.
