Pros
Since 2020, the new management team is attracting very talented, very senior people and a once-stalled company is back on a growth track, with a renewed focus on open source, cloud and streaming. You are in control of work-life balance, comp and culture are second to none. It's 'coaches' not 'bosses' and people do very well with embodying this. It's a sweet spot that isn't startup, but isn't 'big-company'. The opportunity to do something definitional, impactful and meaningful is very much present at DataStax.
Cons
Beginnings are fragile times, with frequent changes in direction. As it ever was, change can be polarizing and is triumphant for some, and tragedy for others. Also, while the intentions are there, the environment and culture are awesome, the company is at the beginning of the D&I road from a pure numbers / result perspective.
