Pros

Very international environment, amazing London office, great canteen, some great people and inspiring people at all level and some projects can be very exciting, expanding institution that got rid of a few toxic senior staff

Cons

- Work life balance can be pretty poor in operational teams, some teams are chaotic/toxic due to endless restructuring - Very little meritocracy and slow career progression, demotivating HR policy that promotes hiring of external candidates of mediocre quality vs decent internal ones and offers higher salaries to new joiners vs well performing long standing staff at the same level so may be safe to look for exit options after 3-5 years if you don't have solid promotion prospects. - poor senior management and governance leads to toxic internal territorial infighting - proliferation of poorly designed and often useless processes managed by staff with no real economy or sectoral expertise that make the bank look amateurish with clients - salary and benefits not enough for a family in London unless you have family wealth or another high earning partner - be careful about promises on immigration exemption status for your partner and family members as HR make promises beyond what the can achieve, get advice/support from immigration lawyers. - hypocrisy in the difference of treatment between Palestine and Ukraine - inclusion policy focusing on gender and LGBT that hides the lack of social diversity with big proportion of staff coming from well-off and well.connected families, especially in local offices. - opacity on salaries

Pros

International exposure to emerging market interesting and talented junior colleagues

Cons

- Managers do not care about juniors career progression and some do not have integrity - Work is repetitive once you understand it and lacks challenges, which means many works are highly AI replaceable - The quality of mid-management really varies, Some talented mid senior people are quiet while mediocre take the place. - Reacts slow to market and some red tapes - Not a resourceful bank in terms of reputation and benefits
