Pros

Easy job. Good for students who want time to do homework/study/read You're usually the decision maker when it comes to guest satisfaction. Give a free night, discount off room rate or upgrade etc. Unless it escalates, then you can let the manager know. But guests are usually happy with a discount. If youre working night shift, you're the only one there at night, no manager looking over your shoulder. In fact, youre the only employee! My location, I had a relax manager who let me bring my laptop to work and use the free wifi. Plus I worked nights, so it was boring as heck. But as long as I was doing my job perfectly, it was not an issue. Pay is average for experience $8-10 in California Not much office politics. Small group of employees, easier to get along with. My hotel had 10, thats including the housekeeping and management. No graveyard shift. Front desk closes at 11pm (at least the ones in this area) Great perk is that you get 7 free nights at any Extended stay hotel in the country. No discount, FREE.

Cons

Can get really quiet and boring. LOTS of downtime. Being alone at night. No other employee or manager on site. Not even security. So if youre a pansy when it comes to working alone, this is not definitely not for you. Lots of complaints about rooms not cleaned thoroughly or something is broken/missing. Management is usually aware of this, but they dont have a) funds: to fix things that are broken and b) time : to retrain the housekeeping staff or reprimand them for mess-ups. Not gonna complain about guests... its the same everywhere. Some are nice and some you just wanna punch in the face... you know, the usual. Benefits. Mystery callers!

Pros

Great leadership from management! My GM has really taken me under her wing and ensures I have all the knowledge & tools available to be the best I can be. She goes above and beyond for the entire staff, consistently shows her gratitude, and never asks anything of the staff that she isn’t willing to do herself! Customer service is my favorite line of work and the only work I’ve ever done. ESA is my first hotel job, and I feel so at home with the company. When I was initially hired, I was just looking for a way to make ends meet. I’ve been with ESA for over 90 days now, and I have grown to love being a part of this company. I am in it for the long haul, and look forward to growing with this company and advancing my career!

Cons

I have no cons. My employment so far has been amazing!
