As I became more successful, and staff retention massively dropped, it felt like the stores KPI's and expectations fell upon my shoulders; my responsibilities went way beyond the basics of a sales associate.
I was unfortunate enough to be part of the payment restructuring, losing out on valuable commission and the subsequent pay system no longer valued the work output I achieved.
Baseline of it all, I felt underappreciated, overworked and underpaid.
Progression was non-existent and the value of stepping up positions was never an option in my mind either, as the pay didn't increase by much but the responsibility did massively.
Essentially stepping up meant-
Hours went up massively (coming in extremely early to open and set up, sometimes alone and working extremely long shifts)
Not only that due to staffing issues in the management your holidays were massively restricted.
