Pros

The most wonderful work culture, due mainly to the talented, passionate and hard-working team members & very thorough interview process to employ the best of the best. Wonderful opportunities to connect with teammates globally through various meetings, events and camps. Amazing to get a free trip every year.

Cons

The strong culture has a way of making staff feel like they are valued, but the reality is that a global company of this size and that has been around for 3 decades should be able to properly recognise and reward hard-workers beyond ways that are increasingly normal in workplaces these days like friday drinks, a fam and an invitation to the company's annual general meeting. This might have bene ground-breaking stuff 10 years ago, but now every travel company offers these same incentives, whilst also ensuring staff feel properly rewarded and recognised in other innovative ways, as well as through fair remuneration. Unfortunately it's impossible to be properly rewarded and recognised unless you are a favourite of the leadership team, which is largely a "boys club". I saw time and time again "yes men" being promoted over smart, hard-working women who had their own opinions and ideas. If you were "in" with the male leadership team, you were going places in the company. If you weren't "in" with them, you'd go nowhere. Regarding the core values of the company, in my experience, these have never applied internally towards staff. Whilst it's great to get a fam spot every year, the prices of the tours increase every year, yet the value of the fam trip never once increased in my time working at this company. Why not? Sadly the most telling thing about the leadership team, is the way in which they handled mass redundancies during the pandemic. Some handled it with grace and empathy. Others handled it in an embarassingly poor way, proving that despite the bells and whistles of a strong company culture, everey staff member is completely disposable and won't necessarily even be disposed of in a compassionate way.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We invest heavily in our culture in order to create a differentiated and engaging employee experience and we are glad that you appreciate the people as well as the various initiatives we have put in place. Our total rewards strategy is something we are continually iterating on and we appreciate your candid comments in this area. With respect to the COVID-19 redundancies, it was an unprecedented situation and unfortunately we were forced to make some quick, difficult and unpopular decisions. That being said, we have received some valuable feedback from staff like yourself and have since made improvements to the process and communications. Regarding our core values, we do use them both internally and externally to guide our behaviours and initiatives, and we are sorry to hear that you felt otherwise. Should you wish to share more about your concerns in this area, we encourage you to reach out to cjones@gadventures.com. Thank you again for your feedback and we wish you the best!
