Pros

The option to work from home. Great team with in the department.

Cons

- Poorly trained Tax Professionals on self explanatory system. Literally it's essentially and HRB google, which includes different departments for varying issues.Overall it's not a bad job as far as working from home option. What makes this position horrible is the Tax Professionals.  To understand this tech support line is not for fixing thier return misentries, figuring out calculations , or manipulating transaction or "pushing returns" we are not tax professionals to fix returns, we are not financial services department. This is strictly a line for actual programming issues. 99% of the time the tax preparer calls for a diagnostic that are simply notices that they have to fix the return. It has nothing to do with the program not working right. On top alot of the Tax Pros are EXTREMELY rude and disrespectful to the tech line because they don't take the time to educate themselves on thier software. Everything is located in the all in one search tool "DNA"  like tax help, invoicing, and it also has a page for other department lines created for these issues. It's extremely difficult to cooperate with people who are supposed to be under one company but treat our department as if they aren't at work cursing and more over issues that alot of the time has nothing to do with the software, and outage or broken equipment.  Additionally there is a grand issue with the clients not sending thier signature consents over to HRB correctly for Approve online and Tax Pro Reviews. I recommend HRB advise clear cut information to client how to do it properly cause due to thier error, tax pros expect FTS to remedy and issue having nothing to do with the office software but the software of a client...using thier computer...in thier home...this is not efficient or accurate way of operating a digital service.

Pros

I could go on and on with an endless list of pros working for H&R Block but I list a few that stands out: 1. Management (Both in-office and district-wide) want to support your ability to build a book of business. Before the end of January, I was transferred to high traffic offices with better new-client potential. 2. Most senior and more experienced tax pros are willing to help and supervise you. 3. A great first job in a professional setting (Especially for someone who did not have the opportunity to do an internship). 4. Job helps you develop tax expertise as well as giving you call center, data entry, upselling, client service and financial advising experience. 5. If it's not your first tax season with the firm, you are eligible for an end of season commission (Depending on amount of revenue you brought to the company) in addition to the base pay you recieve as pay for weeks and hours worked.

Cons

It's seasonal. You are not eligible for a potential end of season commission if it's your first tax season. You also have to reapply before training begins again around 4th quarter of calender year (Although bear in mind this is due to the continuing education requiremnts of the tax preperation/ tax advisory field in general).
