Cons

HL is a company that is rapidly losing it's identity, culture, and many of the things that made it an attractive place to work. Senior management seem desperate to bring 'mojo' back to HL but are entirely unaware of what made HL culture so attractive in the first place. Social events, such as summer/winter parties, have quietly been stopped over the past 18 months with no plan to bring them back. Drinks in the office atrium, the HL lottery are all small gestures that gave HL a sense of fun. These have been replaced with sterile, corporate events done on a budget. HL is a company with healthy profit margins but this money is not adequately reinvested into its systems. Staff are paid poorly, progression is almost non-existent. HL's systems are extremely antiquated and hamper the work that colleagues can do. Recent takeover by Private Equity and subsequent job losses compound these issues and lead to dissatisfaction from colleagues. There does not feel like a clear sense of direction in where HL is going and the high turnover of ExCo staff does nothing to alleviate this. This is not the company it once was and it does not look like those days will be returning. An abject failure by successive management has led to a decline in HL's culture, environment and satisfaction, as can be seen in these Glassdoor reviews. A real shame.
