Pros

1. Some clients and their families are very kind. They go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable.

Cons

Let’s start by saying I’ve worked at my home instead for almost a year. A few thing I wish I had know before I applied here is: 1. The availability you give them is just a suggestion, they will guilt-rip and threaten you into working over that 2. You don’t get paid extra if a client needs you to stay longer, they’ll take that time off another day to compensate for you staying longer 3. You don’t get paid for caring for couples 4. They are not kidding when they say they are allowed to send you 25 miles away from you home, get ready to waste a tank of gas on one client, with no compensation( also, it’s rarely long cases that make up for the drive) 5. If you put you’re allergic or scared of pets, they don’t care. I told them I’m terrified of dogs and my very first client had two big dogs. They’ve continued to schedule me with dogs ever since 6. You’re schedule will be incredibly hectic and it’s very hard to get a regular client, it’s honestly easier to work at a fast food job. At least you won’t feel as burned out as I do 7. Finally, Home instead will try to make you feel like a terrible employee when you aren’t available 24/7 to pick up call out shifts from other employees, when you complain that a client is being horrible, when you don’t want to come in for their meetings on your day off , etc…

Pros

Matched clients with same interests

Cons

Not good scheduling manager HR lied When they said $1 per mile when transporting clients, they did NOT reimburse at that rate Payroll/paystubs unclear to intentionally confuse caregivers CarePros who have been loyal to the company have been shat on with lower wages than new-hire employees. They allow clients to be racially biased and hateful towards their caregivers NO BENEFITS and things they advertise are not true! No real flexible schedule that they promote and promise in the job ads NO policy written for things that are unclear for example being on call phones are not provided and time is not paid for unless actively providing cares Management will tell lies to the families about why you don't want to be with a certain client every day of every week and will blame it on them being a difficult client when communicating to the family when in reality schedules and availability with classes does not align. Even with proper notice, the scheduling manager will have attitude and try to convince you that you are the one with the problem even though she does not care to take the time to fully understand each persons preferences or availabilities.
