Pros
Extremely flexible hours, managment in my experience has nothing short of outstanding. Great handle on work-life balance; you will never be guilted into taking on extra hours or taking on tasks that negatively affect your non-work life. Given the pay and the amount of hours available outside the holiday season, you will need a second job, but the company culture makes this extremely possible.
Cons
Even with your 30-60% discount, most purchases are well out of reach considering non-managment pay. You are not required to wear J Crew clothing, but the dress code is very strict (a good portion of the men's clothing lines are not allowable under current guidelines). The path to promotion and developing a career within J Crew starting from within the retail side is hazy at best. Very female-dominated work culture, expect to feel out of place if you are a man, particularly if you are married and are in your early-mid twenties. Many of my co-workers and I have college degrees and are working retail for side/additional income, but no communication regarding career advancement is available. If given the chance, I'm sure many of us would take advantage of any opportunities for professional career development within the retail industry.
