I worked at J. Crew part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great atmosphere. Informative meetings about seasonal trends and company updates. Brilliant discounts for employees. Supportive management (oftentimes they brought snacks to share).

    Cons

Hectic schedule for part-time employees. No pay for on-call days. Cut hours due to slow sales days. Quality depreciation made it more challenging for customers to buy/keep the merchandise and harder to hit sales goals.

Alot of double standards and unfairness in the store with managers and associates and favouritism 4. Gossipy and cliquey atmosphere, not nice at all 5. Advice to Management

Actually listen to associates if they have an issue, sit down and see how you can resolve it rather than ignoring or passing it onto another manager Managers need to set an example, stop gossiping and treat others how you would like to be treated And finally relax! YES you want to sell and make store targets ect, but stop putting staff under stress! it is not needed

I worked at J. Crew part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Free seasonal uniform allowance and 60% staff discount - Colleagues are friendly and nice to work with - Attractive Store - Odd occasion to see or work with notable / famous customers

    Cons

    - Everyone has individual sales targets, which can make a stressful, competitive environment at times. (Even though the Managers say it doesn't) - Cliquey management. Can be strict at times and watch you like a hawk to make sure you reach sales. - J.Crew's way of how to engage with customers seems forced a bit pushy. - Understaffed so can result in you taking up more hours and work so poor work / life balance

    Advice to Management

    - Reduce the emphasis and stress about reaching individual sales targets. - You can't force customers to buy stuff if they don't want to. Also some customers genuinely don't want to be approached or talked to. Stop forcing your colleagues to shove product down customers throat from as soon as they enter the store. *On the plus side, from working shifts in the Brompton Cross, Shoreditch, and Sloane Square stores, are...
