Pros
- Flexible Schedule (for the most part) - Perfect place to work for those who prefer a fast paced environment - Friendly atmostphere (for my store at least) - "Green" Store. Energy efficient. Eco friendly now that all stores are implementing a new company initiative for electronic signing. - Dedicated to GREAT customer service. - Employee Discount (only when topped with the occasional save an additional 20% off everything promotion) otherwise it's 15% which is decent. - Job Security is tight. As long as you arrive on time (no more than 4 minutes past your scheduled time), have very little to no call-outs, and put forth your best performance each time, you'll be fine. There's no need to touch base on the topic of theft. You already know the repercussions. - Healthy balance between work/personal life. The managers care (at least they should) about your personal life, so if any conflicts arise with scheduling, all you need to do is be upfront and honest, and they'll help you out. communication is key. - Promotions (it doesn't happen immediately, but if you handle your job and display a positive attitude, your time will come)
Cons
- Payroll is tight, which means less hours. For a young adult with little to no financial responsibilites, you can't complain. - Customers make a mess (but in every retail store, which customer doesn't) - If you work recovery you need to be on your A game. If you think 4-7 hours is enough to replenish, handle go backs, and deal with customers while trying to maintain your area at the same time, think again. - It's a constant flow. Never a dull moment as far as workload is concerned. Every job is hectic, if you crack easily under pressure, i highly suggest you avoid a position in recovery and freight. - Deadlines, quotas, goals need to be met for every position. If you aren't level headed, your performance will suffer. (it may be noted by an E3/E4 to your E1 so watch out for that, or you'll be vulnerable to termination). - Somtimes, if not usually, there are not enough hours in a day to complete tasks given to you, but it's all mental games, if you know you can do it, then the possibility remains. - Benfits may be limited to those working part-time, but what did you expect? great things? - Our 15% employee discount (alone). I'd be content if it was at least 20% but that's just me. however, i can't really complain, savings is savings nonetheless. - Frequent complaints arise when it comes to credits, but really, out of the hundreds of customers you encounter at POS, it isn't that hard to obtain at least 3 credits. think about it. - LP is always watching, especially the associates. slip-up and they will catch you. - Minimum wage for the work you put in, but hey, that's retail.
