Overall an easygoing job, but manager favoritism and severe understaffing make most days feel anything but. - Starbucks-Barista Kroger Employee Review

Pros

-Depending on where you work you get union benefits/protections and they’re pretty solid. -Scheduling is pretty flexible -For what it’s worth, the Starbucks department is pretty easygoing -Most managers (on the surface anyways) are pretty accepting of all cultures, beliefs and backgrounds.

Cons

-very inconsistent hours— one week it’s 18 hours as per required by union or 37 -managers tend to pick and maintain favorites. Makes it incredibly harder to want to speak up and advocate for yourself if you want a change in departments, scheduling, wanting more hours, disputes with other employees, or anything else similar to that. -Turnover issues that in turn cause severe gaps in the schedules depending on the day, causing you to sometimes work more than four hours by yourself until someone else comes in.

Pros

• Generally work with fantastic people. • Work is not difficult, and time flies when busy. • My bosses collaborated with me to create a schedule that worked, as I often had other commitments. • Overall, a pleasant work experience most days. Get good at what you do and you'll do fine.

Cons

• Some of the senior management was less friendly than others - as to be expected. • Days were very volatile; some could be extremely easy, and others could be a nightmare. • Scheduling was kept rather limited; although I was able to get the hours I wanted, often times management would look to cut hours from departments whenever possible, leaving less support.
