Pros

If you enjoy the weather, you will have plenty of time to look into things closely Interesting training period in Exeter. Wages of 36K after two years is good. Chances of international travel to some interesting places

Cons

Terrible management They will more than likely ship you of to defence to rot for most of your career in an undermanned outfield station in the middle of nowhere. Poor advancement opportunities. Poor hours you will be working weekends and night shifts Work bank holidays and christmas day for no extra pay Civil service cuts mean no improvements are on the horizon They contract you into a two years minimum service period (post qualification) with ridiculous pay back clauses for leaving early. Long shifts hours which are mostly mind dumbingly boring, you will be working many of these alone as well unless in Exeter.

Pros

Experts who care about their work, the planet and the MO culture

Pay is bad. Like crazy bad, drives bad behaviour and promotion of people who just want more money.
