Pros
Heard good things about other areas of the Met Office, for example, science. If you're a bully, then you have great future prospects!
Cons
Bullying is rife. It starts at a high level and they often promote other bullies. You can't report the bullies, because most people you would report to are part of that toxic environment. If you try and mention one of the bullies are endangering people's lives and safety by them cutting corners in their forecasting, it will be ignored or it will somehow be your fault. Not only the customer's safety, but safety of staff is often neglected. If you belong to a minority, do not expect to be treated fairly. I have seen maybe 2 people of colour since joining almost 5 years ago and one mentioned being treated like a "show pony". Used as an example that they employ people of colour. If you have a disability, expect to be forced a "reasonable adjustment" that doesn't work for you, then they will blame you for it not working, even if a perfectly reasonable alternative exists, like being deployed to a different location. Managers who have been at the Met Office for 30+ years often try and get out of doing work and are set in their ways. Same pay no matter how many more night shifts and weekends you do more than someone else.
