Get the business in gear and could be great - Systems Engineering Manager Nationwide Employee Review

Pros

Somewhat stable as a fairly large company. Layoffs have happened, but typically those laid off have a good bit of warning that it's a potential in their business unit, and personally get 60-days' notice. During the 60 days, receive preferential treatment and assisstance in pursuing other jobs internally.

Cons

Smal profit potential in industry leads to constant expense focus - cutting costs eventually ends up at cutting people. While some of the philosophies, mission, vision, etc. preached from the top sound good, it only takes one bozo somewhere in the senior management chain to stop the actual benefits within his/her span of control.

Pros

-For the most part, the people you work with are good people. Made real lifelong friends and mentors. -As with all large companies, there are plenty of opportunities to advance and/or move around if something isn't a good fit. -One of the rare places still offering a pention

Cons

-Office politics promote plenty of people who don't deserve it and the teams happiness is highly dependent upon who you end up reporting to -WAY too much false urgency created by bad leaders -Big company means slow moving in all the stuff you want to go fast. Often times too many cooks in the kitchen
