Pros
Octopus Energy is really defined by its start up status. Things are fast paced and ever changing, with no two days being the same. There’s a real sense of collegiality when you walk through the doors, no one is ever too busy to give you a hand. I work for Octopus Energy for Business which is kind of a start up within a startup. It’s a great team, everyone is really bright and hard working. Although the team is segmented into different areas of expertise, we’re all working towards the same goal which brings a great energy to the team. What I really like about working for Octopus is the fact that there are very few hierarchal structures in place, no one is too important to be able talk to. Because we’re still a relatively new business energy supplier there are no rigid processes for how things are done. You’re given autonomy to talk to partners, interact with customers and generally get a better understanding of how the industry works from various bodies. Before starting at Octopus, I had very little knowledge of the utilities market but from listening and talking to my team I feel like i’ve gained so much insight in quite a small amount of time.
Cons
As a company we are growing rapidly which is incredibly exciting. With growth comes inevitable change and diversification into new markets. If you’re someone who doesn’t like to be challenged by changing work loads and team dynamics, then Octopus isn’t for you.
