Pros
- plenty of opportunity as the people who worked to establish a foundation and built PE with BST, giving the prime of their lives to securing the wellness of “ the company” while sacrificing themselves, literally up to the time of their death (as one long time employee , based in Atlanta, past away while on a business assignment and died on that trip where it is fact that his body wasn’t discovered in his company paid for hotel room for five days after he passed away. Collection was initiated by friends of Gene’s family and widow to help make sure that they didn’t go without the basic needs as lawyers fought against providing any financial support or benefits to said family. Oh the Pros? Lots of new openings to expand on work done by the likes of Michael Duffy (never credited for his software development for the various instruments that put PE on the world stage .
Cons
Lack of compassion for people who need time off for seeing to personal care. No work-life balance or concern for the longevity of ones career. The “wine and dine” culture of corporate life in the 80’s and 90’s . This use of alcohol left many PE employees who were on the road more than at home with loneliness and plenty of encouragement to drink with clients into late night to obtain their business in the form of orders for scientific instruments.
