Pros

As a District Manager you will have very few things you will enjoy about working for Public Storage. Since there is a 20 word minimum here I'll just add the items that I dreaded the least. My DM peers. The comical relief on how unethical and unprofessional an organization can be - from the top down. That is basically it. No part of working here is enjoyable.

Cons

RUN FROM THIS JOB unless you have no other prospects. You will not have any work life balance. They sell you on banker hours in the interview process, but once hired a 70 hour minimum is required which include nights and ALL weekends. There is consistent change on what the DMs have to focus on which boil down to who can steal from the customers most to achieve an unrealistic goal. You will become a direct customer service agent who handles all customer service calls which normally would be fielded to a corporate office number. As the DM you may have a customer call the customer service number at 3am because they are locked behind a property gate. As a DM you will be expected to go at 3am and let them out! Regardless if it jeopardizes your safety or not. I read across the reviews on here before accepting a position with public storage thinking it can't be that bad. WELL IT IS!!!! RUN!!!! This is the most unethical company I've ever worked for who only cares about their profits not their customers nor their employees.

This position offers a great deal of empowerment to hire, train and develop your team and run your business. No day is ever the same and you get to be out from behind a desk engaging with people. The team I have worked with and the leaders I have worked for have challenged me to grow and develop in every step of my journey here.

Cons

There are a lot of competing priorities so the ability the prioritize, make decisions and be flexible is vital to success.

Pros

Public Storage is a great place to work and grow your career. I’m surrounded by talented leaders who are supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in developing their teams. The company has a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement, which creates an environment where employees can succeed and make an impact. What excites me most is that Public Storage is in a significant growth phase. It’s an energizing time to be part of the organization, with opportunities to contribute to meaningful initiatives, take on new challenges, and help shape the future of the business. The company continues to invest in its people, processes, and growth strategy, making it an excellent place for those who are looking to develop professionally while being part of a winning team. If you’re looking for a company with strong leadership, career advancement opportunities, and a clear vision for the future, Public Storage is a fantastic place to be.

Cons

Cons: As Public Storage continues to grow, the pace of the business can be very fast. There are often multiple initiatives, priorities, and opportunities happening simultaneously, which requires strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly. Success in this environment depends on being able to effectively prioritize, manage competing demands, and stay focused on the highest-impact work. While the pace can be challenging at times, it also creates tremendous opportunities for growth, learning, and career development.
