Pros
It is a good company for HRs and Non-technical people.
Cons
I would like to give a brief about me. I am having around 8 years of experience in IT and have worked in 2 Giant service-based companies, One product based company and now in Sapient. You can ignore my review in the following cases: 1. If this is your first company. As I joined sapient after 8 YOE, I don't know how they treat to freshers. so this review, might not help you. 2. If you are okay to change your tech stack for which you have interviewed. 3. If your past experience does not include any MNC. 4. If in your past, you have worked in non-process oriented small projects. 5. If you are working in Sapient other locations(Not Delhi\NCR). This review is based on my past experiences with several MNC's. You can have different views also. This (Sapient Global Market) is a service based company but they hesitate to accept/compare themselves to other service-based companies. They will say they are better than TCS, Infosys, IBM or other service-based companies. But the truth is, they are also a service based company. After joining: Bench Period: 1. They hire you for one technology and put you in any role/technology. This happened almost all of us where Java developer (Around 8 y.o.e.) were put in UI role, Automation Testing guys were put in Manual Testing, UI guys were put in java role etc. Particularly for automation, if you are coming from Selenium and Java, they will put you in Selenium with c#, Selenium with javascript etc. If you are okay with these changes, then it's okay. Otherwise, you are in a big mess and you will feel cheated. 2. If you reject a project in bench with whatever reason (People rejects because of mismatch of roles/technology mostly), then it will show in their tool that client rejected you. 3. After rejecting the project, after some days, you will get called for the same project again. 4. If you again reject that project, you will get another project which will entirely different from your skillset. And now if you reject, staffing will start putting pressure on you that you are rejecting every project and blame game will start from here. 5. Staffing team which in other organization you say RMG, will have no idea about your role/technology. They will put in any role over you and will tell, we want you to learn these technologies. Most unprofessional staffing team you will see in this organization. Their communication skills and local street Romeos language is not different. 6. They have a long bench period because they don't have projects. Forget about good projects. 7. In the bench period, you will have to come office. Otherwise, you will have to apply for leave. 8. Systems do not work in bench location. 9. They do not have a project on a variety of domains. Office Accessories: 1. People work in desktop here if they are not in US/international projects. 2. This desktop comes with 4GB ram. You can understand the slowness of these desktops. 3. If you will have to work in a client project where a client wants to work in their Remote machine, you will get hell frustrated because of the slowness. 4. A laptop is a very big thing here in Sapient. 5. For headphone, office phone, you will have to raise tickets. 6. No dustbin in your seat location. 7. Without all theses (Laptop, headphone, phone), they will onboard in a client project. And from the first day on, you are expected to give 9-hour work efficiency. After Joining Project: 1. You will see DBA person acting as java lead, 10+ years of Java experience guy working as UI expert. They shamelessly accept it in internally. In short, they fool customers. 2. So now, you will be in a bunch of people, who don't have any expertise. Everyone is learning in an ongoing project for which sapient is billing highly with their customers. 3. As a consequence, as you don't have the expertise, now you will do 1-hour task in 10 hours. Because you don't know how to do it. From here, your Work-life balance will suffer. 4. Project deliverables, timings, agile everything is there because the client has put it on them. Now, even for writing simple java code, your experts will take hours. 5. From here, someone will emerge as an expert in technology. The reason, he has ruined his personal life. And this expert will be a common developer in the outer world. 6. Politics: Now, you are in a bunch of people who don't have expertise. Just guess, what they will start doing. Politics. yes, a lot of boot licking, you will see here. 7. No QA process, No documentation, No coding best practices, no project management, No KT for newcomers (Even if there is any, it is just for namesake). But the project is going on, only God knows what they are doing and why they are making people life hell because of their lack of processes and project management skills. Canteen: 1. Worst food with exorbitant prices. 2. There are subway, mac D, Starbucks in Gurgaon office. But, you can see the lunch prices will go up to 200 or more daily. Office Location: 1. Gurgaon in sector 21. You will not get any good apartment nearby. Villages are nearby. 2. Noida: It's very far from Delhi or even from Noida. Office Transport: You will be charged rs2200 or rs 2500 (I am not sure between these two figures) irrespective of the distance. Office Timing: 1. Normal office timing is 8:30 or 8:00 to 5:30 or 5 pm. 2. For US projects, people stay late and arrange for their travel. or leave early, and start working from home like taking calls. Leaves: Enough leaves. But again, you will not able to avail them all. Literally, fought for leave and threatened to leave the company for 4 working days leave. Feedback: 1. You will find people are sweet/sugarcoated with you here as the company follows 360 feedback. Everyone gives feedback to everyone. 2. So are these feedbacks really constructive? No. These feedbacks are based on how people around you are happy with you. So, now you need to bootlicking everyone. 3. People give sarcastic feedback here. 4. Anyone will call you and will give you feedback. 5. Your feedback sometimes depends on how your manager feels about you, not about your work Timings: 1. No one checks that you working 9 hours or not. So do you think it's a positive thing? No. Cause, now you are expected to available at any time. 2. You can have called at 8 am in the morning as well as in evening at 9 pm. WFH: Here, 1. WFH is an option in your timesheet. When you fill timesheet, you have to apply WFH. 2. Company culture is: If you are working from home, it means you are enjoying paid leaves. The reason is: People usually do this here. 3. People need to give reasons why they are working from home. It should satisfy your manager, otherwise, he/she will tell you an alternative and will say you to come office. You can now imagine the culture. Team size: Small teams with not much interconnected with each other. Attrition: 30% of people leave sapient within 6 months. Not because, they are not capable, just because, everything is messed up here. Hiring is not as per the project requirements, staffing (who put you in projects) will give you the worst experience of your life, In projects, you will see many people who have no skills of the technology in which they are working and projected as experts, no process at all, and overall these, people are giving you feedbacks (Mostly negative and sarcastic) at any day or time. The company is famous for hiring and firing. My Advice: If you are willing to join sapient after reading all this, I will still give you one advice. Please ask your recruiter that in which project, you are going to work, do you need to change your tech stack or not? If he/she does not give you a clear picture (Project, client, account info), you are going to join bench there. That is true. out of 15, 4 have put their papers in our new joiners batch within 5 months. This is the real truth. In the end, this is my personal experience. If you have a different opinion, I am completely okay with this. But, Even I am looking for a job change as I do not find this company as flexible.
