Pros
-Salary only if you can negotiate the moon and stand firm on your numbers -The gym in Suwon R5 is amazing -Cafeteria food (while it can get sorta boring) is actually quite good. well for free food.
Cons
Possibly the worst decision ever in my professional career. I was an experienced expat hire having previously worked for other top companies (APPLE, MSFT, GOOGLE...take your pick). Worked for Samsung Mobile marketing...you know the group that puts those dog and pony shows with Korean executives speaking with their poorly spoken English. This place will absolutely rot your soul. You will wonder every day of your stringent 1.5 or 2 year contract, what you are doing there; why you are there; and how to kill time. Every minute of your mandatory 10 hour days (yes, they track your hours and you will get an incomplete if you do not put in your full 10 hours). Yes, you have to go through an airport security system and put your bags through an X-ray machine. i could go on and on. But the most important point is that as a professional hire, you will regress. While you are rotting away in Suwon with absolutely nothing to do, your colleagues back home will be moving up progressively or have worked on something amazing. For more details please check out a book called Noonchi: The Appearance of Working in a South Korean Chaebol for the painful details. Yes, a former employee wrote a tell-all expose because it was the only way to keep sane.
