Pros
- A sense of levity and coolness about the product - Great benefits and above average pay - Most orgs outside of engineering treat each other well and are accepting - In engineering it really matters who’ss in your management chain for daily work culture.
Cons
- Since so much of engineering pay is in stock, the stock price dictates the mood - The engineering culture on some teams is basically the worst of Amazon, despite the company trying to insist on empathy as a value - There are plenty of engineers that complain about any DEI efforts, who preach that everyone can get to where they are by just pulling up their bootstraps. - The review process changes every round - Engineering town halls tend to just complain about stock, review processes and what food item/perk has changed…
