Pros
A company that lives its external values internally. The company develops your 'whole self' not just your professional self. Generally good benefits (new parental leave), especially compared to places outside the PNW. Unlike other companies I've been at, Starbucks is generally willing to let people move around the organization (between functions).
Cons
The verdict is still out for me in general. Can be intensely political, and much more hierarchical than I would have expected. It's amazing we can accomplish anything innovative with the amount/level of stakeholders that are involved in decision-making. Would not recommend as a first place out of college to work - training is non-existent, and in my function, you need to be a SME to really succeed. Old school in terms of workplace flexibility - very much a 'butts in seats' culture, although I believe that may depend on the department. The company is at an interesting inflection point - will be interesting to see the next 12-18 months.
