Pros
Great colleagues. Great products. Fun atmosphere. Lots of potential for learning. Retail is the sort of place where you can meet some wonderful people. It can be incredibly rewarding to help someone out by fixing their device or teaching them something new. Financially speaking, if you have a good month sales-wise you can earn a lot of money; if you have a bad month however you're barely earning minimum wage.
Cons
Not minimum wage. Commission scheme Higher management Given the type of clientele (Apple customers) everyone expects something for nothing and an awful lot of people are incredibly rude. Kind of comes with the territory in retail though. Paid less than the average retail worker even though you're MORE than an average retail worker. You're also a technical support specialist and a tutor. Head office management focus too much on reprimanding over praise. They're control freaks, I've never worked for a company where you have to contact them constantly to ask them permission for the most mundane of things. Camera watching is high on their agenda. Respecting and valuing their staff seems to be low on it. I doubt I'll be here for much longer, it's quite character breaking. (Disclaimer: some of the head office staff are absolutely great, wonderful people to talk to on the phone. Some of the upper management however are very demoralising.)
