Pros

Do not listen to these glowing reviews, Teksystems directs its employees to give positive reviews of the company on sites like glassdoor to help recruitment because recruiter turnover is so high (20-25% yearly). Can you make great money at TEK? Yes, its possible, but they will sell you on the fact its a foregone conclusion and everyone will. You need an Account Manager with big accounts, 50-70 work weeks everyweek, and plenty of plain ole luck. In my office, out of 25 recruiters, 3-5 who had been there forever made really good money, the rest were making less than 50k. Right out of college, it's a job, the base is terrible (30k), but they hire entry level and it doesn't matter what your degree is in. You get to work with a bunch of younger people, it can be a fun atomosphere. If your desperate for a job, get in, get some experience, and get out.

Cons

It's like groundhogs day, your a glorified telemarketer, you sit in a small half cube and make phone calls all day, everyday, to me this was the worst part of the job. You either do it the TEK way, or no way, they are not looking for creative minds, they wants robots who buy into the Kool-Aid and will make phone calls. Very numbers driven, heavy micromanagement, and a ton of negative motivation. If the office is doing poorly, they will threaten everyones job, this happened multiple times during my tenure when our office numbers were down. If your not hitting your numbers, your job will be threatened. In my training class of 15, when I left after one year only 6 people were still with the company. There are virtually no career paths other than sales, if your not a type A personality driven to work in sales, do not waste your time here. No work/life balanace, its 730-6, with a ton of "happy hours" (aka mandatory work events). Multiple times we were forced to work late on Fridays (8-9pm) and weekends. Your treated like a high schooler, and it's a total "Frat Boy" office culture. The Sales people make double the commission of recruiters. Very frustrating to see older Sales people do absolutely nothing all day, then take the candidates recruiters give them and go earn double the spread. Leaving the company was the best decision I've ever made, I now make more money, work less hours, and get to work with intelligent people on actual projects that require out of the box and strategic thinking.

Pros

- Decent pay to start. - Account manager is responsive, engaging, and a serious advocate for you and your contract. - Gain access to Udemy Business to build more skills.

Cons

- The benefits suck. - High recruiter turnover with highly variable experience trying to work with them-- some are good, most are not. - Once you are placed, you will be promised regular meetings and then never hear from the recruiter again. - Trying to find a new contract if you are unhappy with your current placement is nearly impossible and I don't believe they are incentivized to help you move at all. - You have to manually request a raise and depending on how you negotiated your contract, you may or may not have the ability to receive one. - There is a cap to how much they will pay you for the contract so even if you work that position 4 years, once you hit that cap you are stuck. I originally submitted my resume with TekSystems when I had finished my degree and never heard back. Many years later, I was approached on LinkedIn by a TekSystems recruiter for a position and he had no idea I was in the system previously. Working with him was good, and I did get the position. Then I never heard from him again and I've had 4 or 5 different recruiters whose names I could not tell you if I tried since then. There's supposed to be monthly calls, they never happen.
