Pros

I really can’t think of anything positive. Once Cigna took over Express Scripts, everything went downhill in a hurry. Benefits are meh

Cons

I’ll just put it this way, employees are overworked and underpaid. There is no such thing as a work-life balance at Cigna. Towards the end of my time at Cigna, I spent more time working than I did with my girlfriend, and even that wasn’t enough for management. To this day, that team is still understaffed. Management still wants to bring on new alerts without proper staffing, and then gets upset when something gets missed or isn’t triaged within 24 hours. management likes to play Mickey Mouse games with mid-level employees. Mind you I was also working 70+ hours a week just trying to stay ahead. Despite being one of the hardest working and dedicated employee, because I came from Express Scripts I was treated differently than the team that came from Cigna. My colleague and I both from Express Scripts feel like we were both forced out of our positions because we were from the Express Scripts side of the house. We were scrutinized more and given more tasks than anybody else on that team. My last few months at Cigna were hell. I was told that I wouldn’t considered for any type of promotion to an open position, despite my stellar performance, year in and year out. Also management will try to retaliate against you for refusing to cover for their mistake. Mind you this was a well document case of retaliation and HR did nothing. as a matter fact, the environment got even more toxic after I went to HR and the retaliation got worse. If anybody is looking to interview at Cigna, I say run away. Your mental well-being is not worth it. If you’re working here still, in order to get what you’re worth, you need to jump ship ASAP. I’ll just put it this way. I had a ton of certifications and the amount of experience that I had I was making $25K below what I should’ve been. When asking for a raise based certifications earned during the year, I was flat out told no. if you see anybody posting positively for this company, they’re probably bots.

Pros

The Cigna Group overall is a fantastic company to work for! They invest in their employees and do a great job ensuring everyone, in all departments/locations/teams feel as if they matter with the multitude of perks they offer to employees. Many team members were knowledgeable, hardworking, and genuinely committed to supporting the healthcare industry.

Cons

While employed at Cigna healthcare, I experienced a work environment that often lacked consistent communication, balanced workload distribution, and transparent leadership practices. High-performing employees were frequently expected to absorb additional responsibilities without corresponding support, while shifting expectations and excessive micromanagement created unnecessary stress and instability. Over time, this impacted morale, trust within teams, and overall employee well-being.
