Pros

Working hours are decent and you get an early finish on a Friday

Cons

Since I have now moved to an organisation with respect and integrity who treats employees fairly and with compassion I can honestly say looking back this was the most unprofessional and toxic environment. Firstly, there is a blame culture and no proper training with abysmal compliance so everyone does things differently yet blames one another for problems instead of coming to you with a resolution. People talk behind your back to you about personal matters including management - for example, when we had team members off due to mental health reasons it was openly shared within the office! Secondly, they have dragged everyone back to the office to do the job we can do perfectly well at home for five days a week again so we can all sit in traffic for two hours and sit in an office that is literally falling apart. You are also EXPECTED to do hours outside of your contract without pay despite the fact this is barely above minimum wage. Additionally, if you even try to make a HR complaint HR will share that with their friends in the office so don’t bother. It’s like being at school where if you don’t want to be teachers pet they don’t like anything you do. I wanted to state that the actual job itself is not terrible and Thermo offers some decent benefits like private healthcare and bonus potential, however the basic salary is far below competitors and with a lack of training none can actually manage to do the role properly not to mention managers constantly putting you down instead of giving fair appraisals and helping with development.

Pros

Since the company is big, it's a great opportunity for networking, learning new skills, and earning certificates after completing hazard safety training that you can use in the future as well (especially if you're working with Unity Lab Services). Coworkers are usually nice and will always lend a hand if you need it. If you're lucky, you might be placed at a one-person site where the site supervisor is chill and understanding, lets you work at your own pace, and helps you learn new things by giving you "side quests."

Cons

No real career growth. The workload can be hard to keep up with at times, and the company strictly enforces an 8-hour workday with no overtime, even when needed. Day-to-day operations feel heavily micromanaged by upper management through strict policies. HR introduces new policies almost monthly, often adding tasks that feel unnecessary. They frame this as becoming "more data-driven," but in practice, it hasn't led to much noticeable improvement.
