Pros
Great care provided within the hospital- made me proud to work for a great hospital. Lots of PTO. Accrual of 2 weeks throughout the year with the option to buy a week of PTO as soon as you start. Lots of "Perks" with other businesses which provided discounts with other companies on their products and services. Career pathing in many departments is very clear.
Cons
Culture of micromanagement seemed to run deep. Many complaints about low salaries, within HR as well. 10% cap rule on internal increases made it difficult for someone who came up through the ranks within UPMC. UPMC should be congratulating employees and thanking them for their accomplishments and loyalty. UPMC should not have a rule in place that makes it a better for employees to leave and come back in order to get a salary that new hires are receiving.
