Pros

- It was a source of pride to work for a company with such a fantastic mission and a really impressive platform that students love. - Unifrog has a really dedicated team that grew quickly. The company is full of really amazing and hardworking people. Everyone was very friendly and caring. There is a shared value that Unifroggers have - they really care about students making the best choices for their future. - Fun social events 3-4 times a year and good benefits (for example, health insurance and volunteering days). - Unifrog is really sustainability-focused and is carbon neutral. - Mental health is treated similarly to physical health, and there is support for this internally and externally. - The Leadership team are incredibly passionate about Unifrog, particularly the co-founders Alex and Coralie, who are really hands-on across the different teams and the CEO, Dan.

Cons

- There is a lack of career and salary progression at Unifrog in some roles. It became quite difficult to financially survive in London on the salary. - Unifrog is an undiverse organisation. This is particularly notable at a senior/exec level, but it is an issue that is prevalent throughout the company. This has serious consequences for employees, but also is a massive disservice to the millions of students they serve across the world. - The Senior Leadership team, (in particular the co-founders) lead Unifrog passionately and according to their principles, which has many benefits. However, this can result in an exclusionary environment which is most severely felt by those from minority ethnic and religiously diverse backgrounds. There are a multitude of blind spots and biases evident as a result of diverse voices not being heard at the top of the organisation. The impact of this is experienced both internally and externally. - There seemed to be a high turnover rate of Black employees at Unifrog which felt uncomfortable. - There is a lack of transparency around decision-making. This relates to platform decisions and employee turnover (which wasn’t high but often seemed shrouded in mystery, which created a culture of fear). There was also several instances of senior jobs being created and individuals walking into them, seemingly without a formal hiring process. - Ultimately Unifrog is a great place to work - but not for everyone, and in my opinion that makes it not a great place to work at all. Proceed with caution.

Pros

The work does have a positive impact on schools and students, and mission-driven for the most part. Where interaction with students and service users is had, it can be quite pleasant.

Cons

- Not a very diverse team, and also quite hostile/ unpleasant dealing with management. - Lack of diversity in seniority and micromanagement meant this was probably one of my least favourite working environments. High turnover of diverse staff members which, I believe, speaks to the work that needs to be done to create better spaces for underrepresented communities. - Not particularly supportive to entry-level staff members, nor was there any formal/ informal learning and development opportunities. The work felt very 'checkbox' and there was no appetite to try new things. - Whilst the team generally were quite pleasant, it did feel like an awkward working environment and a few experiences of micro aggressions.
