- There is a lack of career and salary progression at Unifrog in some roles. It became quite difficult to financially survive in London on the salary.
- Unifrog is an undiverse organisation. This is particularly notable at a senior/exec level, but it is an issue that is prevalent throughout the company. This has serious consequences for employees, but also is a massive disservice to the millions of students they serve across the world.
- The Senior Leadership team, (in particular the co-founders) lead Unifrog passionately and according to their principles, which has many benefits. However, this can result in an exclusionary environment which is most severely felt by those from minority ethnic and religiously diverse backgrounds. There are a multitude of blind spots and biases evident as a result of diverse voices not being heard at the top of the organisation. The impact of this is experienced both internally and externally.
- There seemed to be a high turnover rate of Black employees at Unifrog which felt uncomfortable.
- There is a lack of transparency around decision-making. This relates to platform decisions and employee turnover (which wasn’t high but often seemed shrouded in mystery, which created a culture of fear). There was also several instances of senior jobs being created and individuals walking into them, seemingly without a formal hiring process.
- Ultimately Unifrog is a great place to work - but not for everyone, and in my opinion that makes it not a great place to work at all. Proceed with caution.
