Pros

- Solid people at various levels - Customer base and value add with core product and coaching - Unlimited PTO and remote set ups

Cons

- High turnover of good people and major gaslighting - Several “leaders” are stubborn and out of their depth, lack real experience - They want to “push the pace” for everything which means the company is doing a hundred things at once and none of them very well frankly - Product is extremely behind on AI and other core functionality but leaders are busy pointing fingers elsewhere to cover themselves

Pros

Not sure if it's a pro, but Uscreen has an okay Glassdoor score. Though, as another reviewer pointed out, it's because they pay some big scary lawyers to go after anyone who dares to say the truth. I'm expecting them in my inbox any hour now. The industry is fun, although with the benefit of hindsight, I can now see that joining Uscreen to experience that was totally ridiculous. Kajabi, Teachable, Mighty Networks, Passion.io, or even Vimeo are much healthier companies that are in this space, and their working conditions sound like la la land compared to Uscreen. You may learn that your mental health is extremely resilient. Hopefully. Oh, and if you are burdened by your faith in humanity, you will lose the last remaining bits in quick fashion.

Cons

There is so much that's wrong with this company and I'm unfortunate to have witnessed it. First, although they are remote, you will find the environment much more unhealthy than any on-site role you might have had before. That was certainly the case for me and many of my colleagues. The previous CEO, who was ousted last year, is on record admitting that they hire remotely so they can exploit people and pay peanuts with impunity. Until recently, there was a software called HubStaff that we had to have on our computers. (Your own computer, by the way. Uscreen doesn't buy you one.) That software took screenshots of your screen every minute. I'm white, so this isn't sour grapes, but Uscreen is extremely racist. They have a public team page on their website. Take a look. How many non-white faces do you see? There was a POC colleague for a while who was extremely hardworking and a lovely person, but that person was treated so horrendously that it still breaks my heart to even think back to it. Whenever there were POC candidates for vacancies, the comments and jokes that were made about them really don't belong in this century. If you don't like working with dark-skinned people for whatever reason, then this might be good news to you. But don't let it cloud you from the fact that you yourself will be treated like a toerag. Verbal abuse will be your daily bread. You will be gaslit, lied to, insulted, demeaned, and reminded at every turn that you are worthless and replaceable. When they laid people off from their peak of 200, everyone got put on PIPs. You suddenly went from being a high performer two weeks ago to having your head on the guillotine. Then, snip, you're gone, no severance, because it was "for cause." Nepotism is part of the DNA of this company. Everyone hires their friends. If you happen to join on the strength of your merits, forget about a promotion, ever. Those are exclusively for nepo-hires at Uscreen. One interesting thing you'll find is that, after Uscreen, nearly everyone's career goes downhill, Even top execs. There's something about this environment that really damages the mind. Maybe you think you'll be the exception. I just hope you're not wrong. Anyway it's not a smart risk by any measure. Go somewhere worthy of your skills, or wait it out just a bit longer.
