Pros

Generous time off 401k plan Training program no layoffs Bonuses Casual dress Opportunities for many jobs within one company. Free coffee Vanguard is a terrific company if you are an investor.

Cons

Softphone system in place makes crew feel like they are shackled to their desk. Vanguard also has a small goverment in place called the Con. They are supposed to monitor work flow but they have also began to monitor every minute of each crews day. Very Big brotherish. Vanguard going casual was supposed to create a free relaxed atmosphere but that was quickly abolished with the softphone system and the growth of the Cons job to report and account for each and every second of the day. Asking for time off has become more difficult and calling out is very complicated. In short Vanguard has takin the human aspect out of the job and has replaced it with machines.

Pros

Awesome coworkers for young professionals. Paid licensing for a few months.

Cons

Micromanagement is out of control. Incompetent team leaders who are obsessed with power and metrics. Back to back calls, limited support, and nearly impossible effective communication between departments. Zero time to cultivate culture because you are taking calls every second of the day except for 30min/1hr lunch and two 15 minute breaks. You’re locked into your role for over a year (apprenticeship for around 60 days, then a year after promotion to associate) and your team leaders will not approve internal applications unless you are “eligible”.
