Pros

The insurance is great It’s like a abusing spouse that you are afraid to leave because you are beat down so much you are dead inside. They pay good enough with no degree you would make half what you do working somewhere else.

Cons

So where do I start. I have been at Verizon for over 5 years. And have worked and multiple stores. Under many management. Let me start by telling you that what ever you think working there would be like is completely wrong. As a rep we are “forced” to sell metrics that are set so high that we lie and cheat customers into buying them to not get coached by our management every five seconds. Are you ready for a look on what we are excited to do. On every sale we are expected to sell $110 in accessories, step up (making your play cost more) insurance, a data device (tablet home phone Apple Watch ex) a hum.... we will get into that soon. And repeat every time. Now the fun part. When you come into work we have a meeting every morning on what we are doing wrong and how we can do it better. Every single morning. We are forced into selling roadside that’s called hum. I can’t begin to tell you the shady things that I have heard people say or do to make people get it. If you come into upgrade we look at a you plan and what you pay. Gain some info then go in the back. The manager comes over and say “what you got” put on the sheet options that are wrong and lie to you about the other ones so you think that the one with the hum is the way to go. I have unfortunately done this to keep my job and it feels so dirty. If you do not sell insurance on 75% of your devices you get written up and talked to 1000000000 times a day about it “did you get it did you get it did you get it”. As well as $110 Accessories if not the same coaching. Making people’s plan higher. Selling 10 hum (you can see why people lie to get it) not transfers customers stuff to get them out in 25 min to lie to someone else to sell them a hum and insurance. I can literally go on and on. Hours, coaching, management riding your nuts, crazy high quota and paid less every year, the dumbest customer that I heave ever met to sell a hum to that don’t know what a mute switch is on a iPhone. Do your self a favor and don’t apply. When I applied I loved technology and phones always stayed up to date and was excited for them. Now I am dead inside and can care less about them. Do what you want but every person in my store and in every store I worked at feels the same if not worse. Ha god I hate it there.

Pros

Compensation is competitive but you will work very hard for it. Culture is excellent and exhibited and practiced from the top down. Benefits are excellent and cost reasonable. 401k match and profit sharing. Lots of training and professional development opportunities. Can advance if you're willing to relocate.

Cons

Company is trying to transform into what it wants to be beyond a wireless carrier (cloud?, security?, telematics?, wholesaler?, etc) and is struggling with a vision, resources, and org structure to make it a reality. Several re-organizations over last few years so job security has frequently been a question. Often delayed response to competitors caused by management's concern that acting would result in not meeting Wall Street expectations. Not the "happiest" place to work because no result is ever good enough and successes aren't celebrated because the focus is always on the next weekly/monthly/quarterly goal.
