Pros
You eventually get to go home.
Cons
A dirty, hazardous and soul destroying place to work. Production is king. Health and safety is totally disregarded in the pursuit of an ever faster blade production cycle. Your colleagues are, on the whole, a tight knit clique of back stabbing workshy chancers who will let the willing do the bulk of the work whilst slagging them off behind their backs. The whole building is coated in a mist of red adhesive spray which has its toxic contents label covered over so that you can't read the warnings and make an informed choice as to whether to use it or not. Not that that would help. Any refusal.to conform or any questioning of the practices will result in you being 'marked' as an instigator and you won't last too long. In for a disciplinary for some trumped up charge unrelated to your initial refusal to compromise your own or your colleagues' health. Management seem to be wilfully ignorant at best or complicit at worst. Middle management are a closed group of arrogant, self serving, aggressive, rude and supercilious man-babies. There are the odd one or two who are genuine nice guys who will try to look after their group and offer genuine support, both physical and mental but unfortunately they are in a very small minority. Battling against a toxic and pervasive seam of self serving arrogance. There is a reason why the annual staff turn over is around the 30% mark. That's the good and decent people leaving after being burned out or worn down by the incessant back stabbing, thankless tasks and bullying attitude of the 'favourites' in the boys club. If you want to earn your £30k per year and not have any dignity or pride in what you do then this is the place for you. There will be no opportunity for personal growth or promotion unless you are one of the pals of the middle management and are prepared to suck up and turn a blind eye. I would recommend you giveit a wide berth. The destructive work shift pattern of days and nights in rapid rotation. Lots of lost weekends due to the weird and anti-social 8 day week model means that any regular events or activities you may like to attend can be kissed goodbye. Your social, recreational and family life will be destroyed. A hell hole of a place to work.
