Bureaucracy around certain decision-making processes.
Pay is generally on the low end.
There's a lot of bloat in my area of the business that takes time away from our core responsibilities, making it harder to succeed. Whilst we're encouraged not to exceed our working hours and there's a lot of lip service paid to work/life balance, there are few tangible things done to address the root of the problem.
Working arrangements have become less flexible for hybrid colleagues, though perhaps still more flexible than other publishers.
Some key adjacent departments are underfunded, leading to stagnant practices and less capable candidates filling those roles, which in turn puts more pressure on my corner of the business.
As with many publishers, there are a lot of outsourced roles which leads to lower quality communication and output vs when these roles were in-house.
